Carla Borja – CHILE

Chile is one of the world’s top ten wine-producing countries, having bottled 9.5 million hectolitres in 2017. Wine is an important part of Chilean culture, and also ranks 16th in terms of the country’s exports.
For a long time, however, wine-making has been the province of men, and any attempt by women to play a part in it remains a challenge, not least because their domestic
responsibilities limit their opportunities to dedicate themselves to oenology.
